The Loving Corner vision is to create an atmosphere where children can learn and grow. Theorists such as Maria Montessori and John Dewey support this vision. Montessori believes that “environments for learning must honor children”. Dewey believed “a child’s education must be alive, active, and interactive. Education for children involves and integrates the child’s community and social world”. Children are allowed to explore their curiosity. They learn by doing. Each day children will learn something new through teacher- directed activities, and self-directed activities such as ‘free play’. Our mission is to provide a safe, healthy, positive, nurturing, and diversified learning environment conducive to learning. Friedrich Froebel said, “children are like tiny flowers; they are varied and need care, but each is beautiful alone and glorious when seen in the community of peers. Erik Erikson believed that “at every stage, children need the loving support of adults. From the beginning (birth to age one) children learn to trust through a caregiver’s warmth and fulfillment of needs”. Children mimic what they see therefore, their surroundings will always be positive. All children will be treated with respect.
