Stepping Stones is more than just a daycare center! We are an educational center offering something for every child! In addition to providing quality care for children ages 3 to 12, Stepping Stones Educational Center, Inc. is proud to offer both a 3 year old and 4 year old Nursery School Program, a full range of summer science and arts programs, summer computer classes for all ages, vacation programs in science and art, science classes for school systems along with teacher training and Saturday educational programs.

Nursery School
Hours of Operation

The three year old nursery school meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 to 11:30. The four year old program meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:00 am to 11:30 am or afternoons 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. Both of the programs follow the Canton school calendar and will not meet when Canton schools are not in session.
Our Program

We believe that each child is unique with his or her own learning style. Our thematic based program is carefully structured to maximize each child's potential and enrich their creativity. We understand the importance of literacy at an early age, making it one of our primary focuses. Our woodland setting allows students to experience nature, science, and the environment by exploring our nature trails, vegetable and flower gardens and wetlands. Our formal Nursery School is a separate program, open to those just attending the Nursery School while offering the convenience and flexibility of our excellent day care to those who wish to take advantage of it.

Our three-year-old program focuses on the social skills necessary to transition into school and beyond. The four-year-old program develops the problem solving, literacy and language skills necessary for successful Kindergarten participation. We also offer a Pre-K program for further enrichment before Kindergarten.


Preschool

Program

Children enrolled in our pre-school daycare program are also enrolled in our nursery school. Our nursery school is a themed interactive environment taught by degreed nursery school instructors. 3 year olds attend nursery school two mornings per week while 4 year olds attend three mornings per week.

When not in nursery school, children have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities including supervised free play, circle time, singing, dramatic play and playground time. Playtime is supplemented with story time and quiet time which usually precede lunch. In addition to lunch we have a morning and afternoon snack. Any child in daycare for more than five hours has a required rest period every afternoon from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Program

Children enrolled in before/after school care are given the opportunity to manage much of their own time. We provide a quiet reading area, dramatic play area, game area, homework area and snack/art area inside for their use. Outside, children have access to a sport area and activities area. Computer classes are offered for an additional fee.
