Description
Provides an array of services to youth and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. Seeks to Increase level of independence and highest level of functioning, offer information about programs/services, increase community awareness of the needs and abilities of people with physical and cognitive disabilities, and decrease stress on families/caregivers. Programs include an in-house library and resource center containing books and brochures on resources, services and issues related to disabilities; preschool programs for children with developmental disabilities ages 2 to 3 and another program for children age 3 to 5; summer camp; physical, occupational, and speech therapies; an adult program for adults age 22 and above that focuses on the development of self-care skills, daily living skills and academic advancement.; community outings to provide community interaction experiences; in-services for families and the community on available services; a marriage and family therapy program that provides individual, family and group counseling and information on community resources for families raising children with disabilities; family council and support group meetings for families to obtain support and encouragement for each other; and media coverage and community events to increase understanding of people with developmental disabilities. Respite care is provided to families while the child or adult clients attend programming at the Center.
